Training Design Manager (TDM)
The Training Design Manager (TDM) provides a powerful environment for designing, structuring, and automating course content generation in MAXRES Construct.
It allows administrators to oversee content objects, manage AI-driven workflows, and integrate knowledge bases, assistants, and automation tools.
Overview
The Training Design Manager is divided into several key areas:
- Workspace View – Provides an overview of all content objects within the workspace.
- Training Architect View – Allows for training design configuration, automation, and course generation.
- Knowledge Hub – Enables the creation and management of knowledge bases.
- Assistant Hub – Manages AI assistants and system prompts.
- Workflow Hub – Connects assistants and knowledge bases into automated workflows.
Only Super Admins and Workspace Admins can access the TDM Editor.
Requirements
Before using the Training Design Manager, ensure that:
- You have Super Admin or Workspace Admin privileges.
- All required PDFs are uploaded to the Asset Manager if you plan to build knowledge bases.
- Any AI providers or models you wish to use for assistants have been configured and are accessible from your Construct environment.
- You have an understanding of block-level workflows and component-level workflows to ensure content generation runs as expected.
Documentation
Accessing the TDM Editor
- Log in to MAXRES Construct.
- In the top navigation bar, select TDM Editor.
- You will be taken to the Workspace View, which provides a table of all content objects in your platform.
The TDM Editor can be accessed from any workspace if you have administrative permissions.
Workspace View
The Workspace View provides a holistic, table-based overview of every content object in the platform.
From this view, you can:
- Edit content object titles.
- Mark items for review or for maintenance.
- Access actions via the three-dot menu to open objects in the Course Structure View.
- Add new courses using the Add Course button in the top-right corner.
- Search and filter objects based on review or maintenance status.
Navigating Between Views
Select the menu icon (four squares) in the top-left corner of the TDM interface to open the sidebar.
From here, you can access:
- Workspace View
- Training Architect
- Knowledge Hub
- Assistant Hub
- Workflow Hub
Training Architect View
The Training Architect View enables automation and high-level management of your training design process.
Here you can:
- Clear Workspace – Delete all data, including courses and lesson modules.
- Export/Import CSV – Export your training design table to modify externally or import updated versions.
- Save Changes – Save modifications made within the view.
- Create Courses – Automatically build lesson module scaffolds from your architect table.
- Generate Content – Generate block-level content using defined workflows.
- Jobs View – Audit and track job history, including generation logs and workflow status.
- Settings – Configure workspace behavior, including data removal and environment resets.
Always save your work before creating or generating courses to prevent data loss.
Knowledge Hub
The Knowledge Hub allows you to create, manage, and configure knowledge bases.
Each knowledge base can contain one or more PDF assets used for retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) in workflows.
Steps to create a new knowledge base:
- Select Create Knowledge Base.
- Enter a name and description.
- Add PDFs from the Asset Manager.
- Configure grouping rules for indexing and pattern recognition.
- Start content extraction and indexing to complete setup.
Assistant Hub
The Assistant Hub is where you create and manage AI assistants that interact with your knowledge bases.
Each assistant can be configured with:
- Name and description
- AI provider (e.g., OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, Llama)
- Model selection
- Optional system prompt (up to 4000 characters)
You can search, modify, or delete existing assistants and create new ones using the Create Assistant button.
Workflow Hub
The Workflow Hub allows you to link assistants and knowledge bases into automated pipelines.
Workflows define how content moves between AI agents and are the core of automated content generation.
Workflow types include:
- Workspace Assistant – General-purpose assistant for workspace-level operations.
- Block-Level Workflow – Generates seed content data for individual learning blocks.
- Training Needs Analysis (TNA) Workflow – Automates generation of enabling objectives and key learning points.
- Component Workflow – Generates final content for specific components (HTML, CBT, ILT, etc.).
Workflow cards highlighted in green indicate active workflows.
Generating Content
Once assistants, workflows, and knowledge bases are configured:
- Return to the Architect View.
- Select Create Courses to build out your structure.
- Select Generate Content to start automated content generation.
- Monitor progress via the Jobs View.
When generation completes, you can review seed content in the Dashboard View, make edits, and approve it for component-level generation.
Reviewing and Approving Content
To review generated content:
- Go to the Dashboard View.
- Select the Lesson Module Card.
- Drill down to the desired Key Learning Point (KLP).
- Review the seed content via the cloud icon.
- Approve content using the tick icon to trigger component-level content generation.
Approved content triggers the next stage of the workflow, generating content for each component in parallel.
Summary
The Training Design Manager provides a complete end-to-end workflow for designing, managing, and generating structured training content using AI-assisted automation.
By combining knowledge bases, assistants, and workflows, MAXRES Construct ensures that training material can be designed, validated, and deployed rapidly and consistently.
Once familiar with the TDM interface, experiment with multi-step workflows (up to 10 steps) to refine content through multiple AI assistants.
